New Delhi: Around 140 parents has written to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal asking for reopening schools considering improvement in air quality in national capital. The parents argued that education of their children should be given "equal attention, in fact greater, priority".

"Unfortunately, our children's education was the first victim of the pollution response and school closures were announced on November 13 for one week. This has now been extended until further orders. While recognising the enormity of the pollution crisis and the risk it poses to our children's health, we strongly urge the Delhi government to reconsider this decision and reopen schools. "

Further, the Parents urged and said, "The hybrid model at 5 per cent capacity will ensure parental choice and address the public health concern of vehicular pollution."

The Delhi government on November 13 issued orders to keep schools closed for physical classes in the view of worsening air quality in national capital.

Again on Sunday, Directorate of Education (DoE) extended the closure of schools until further issues.
