Lucknow: Dalit rights’ activist and founder of Azad Samaj Party, the political chapter of Bhim Army, Chandrashekhar Azad Raavan claimed that BSP supremo Mayawati’s time to retire had come.
“Mayawati has the political capital of Kanshi Ram; We have the principles of Kanshi Ram. The time for Bahan ji (Mayawati) to retire has come. BSP is being run by Satish Chandra Mishra,” he said at the News24 Conclave ‘Manthan’ in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Azad said that contesting elections was not the only politics and that he was in politics for change and transformation. “Every poor sees Azad in himself. Politicians cheat people. People join politics due to the razzle-dazzle of politics; we are in politics for change,” Azad added.
Azad alleged UP was number one in crime and corruption and that he was in the political arena to fight the good fight on behalf of the common man. “We will create a place for ourselves in UP,” he said.
He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of taking the Dalit community for a ride just before elections. “BJP calls Dalit as Hindu before the election, and forgets them after the elections. We have been working hard to fight for the rights of Dalits. Our only goal for the UP assembly elections is to bring the poor, Dalits back to power and fight for their rights.”
Azad threatened to launch such a ferocious movement in UP that the “CM would not be able to sleep”. “The loans of the rich are being waived off, not of the poor. When the poor fail to repay their loans, they are sent to jail. If it is anti-national to fight for my country, then I am an anti-national. The government is using public money to give out its own advertisements. The BJP is going to get a befitting drubbing,” he said.
The BJP, Azad said, had damaged the country the most. Now, Muzaffarnagar has transformed into a city of riots, Azad alleged.
