Thakur Bhupendra Singh, Ahmedabad: The Gujarat police have arrested him a man from Haryana after a video went viral, showing him standing near the famous Somnath Temple and praising Muslim invader Mahmud Ghaznavi.
An FIR was registered against the accused, Maulana Mohammad Rashid Irshad, under sections 153A and 295A of the IPC.
As soon as the FIR against the cleric was lodged after the video went viral on Monday, the Gujarat police swung into action. A case was registered at the police station on behalf of the temple administration.
Maulana is a YouTuber. On Tuesday, Maulana noticed that resentment against was increasing and the police were also searching for him. So he posted another video in which he apologized for his remarks.
The Somnath Temple of Gujarat attracts devotees from all over the world. After the video of the Maulana went viral on Twitter, there was a strong reaction against hjim on social media. The Somnath Police also swung into action after the video went viral and arrested him.
Initial investigation revealed that the man in the video who praised Mohammad Ghazni's attack on Somnath is Maulana Mohammad Rashid Irshad.
Irshad also operates a YouTube channel named 'Jamate Adila e Hind'. Vijay Singh Chavda, general manager of Somnath Temple Trust, has also mentioned all these things in the written complaint given to the police. The police has also started taking its case seriously. It is worth mentioning that Somnath Temple enjoys Z category protection.
