The latest round of talks between India and China has failed to resolve the military standoff along the LAC in Ladakh while no new date for the talks has been fixed yet.

The last Corps Commander-level talks were held in April to discuss the military withdrawal in eastern Ladakh. India and China have been involved in a military standoff since May 2020.

China had offered the 12th Corps Commander-level talks to be held on Monday, however, India asked to postpone the discussions for a few days, as it would mark July 26 as Kargil Day on Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War. Celebrates to commemorate victory.

Earlier, during the India-China Joint Working Groups (JWG) meetings in the 1990s, both sides agreed that Demchok and Trig Heights were disputed points on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Later, 10 areas of different perception of the LAC were recognized: Samar Lungpa, Depsang Bulge, Point 6556, Changlung Nala, Kongka La, Pangong Tso North Bank, Spanggur, Mount Sajun, Damchele and Chumar. Five friction points have been added to the LAC in eastern Ladakh last year after the current standoff began: KM120 in Galwan Valley, PP15, PP17A, Rechin La and Rezang La in Shyok Sula area.

The Indian Army had a few months ago called back units engaged in counter-insurgency operations in the Northern Command area to be deployed along the Line of Actual Control in the eastern Ladakh region.
