K'taka: Loudspeakers to be removed if found unauthorized at religious places, notice issued to verify documents

Chikkamagaluru Municipal Council served notice to the religious places here regarding the verification of documents allowing the installation of loudspeakers after receiving number of complaints of noise pollution. The council will remove the unauthorized loudspeakers.

Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka): Chikkamagaluru Municipal Council served notice to the religious places here regarding the verification of documents allowing the installation of loudspeakers after receiving number of complaints of noise pollution. The council will remove the unauthorized loudspeakers.


The president of Chikkamagaluru Municipal Council, Varasiddhi Venugopal said, "It will be applicable for all the wards. We have informed churches, mosques and temples to submit the documents. We will talk to them. We will verify the document. If found unauthorized, it will be removed." 


Venugopal further informed that the action has been taken after the patients and senior citizens complained against the noise produced from the loudspeakers. 


"Complaints of noise pollution have been received from senior citizens, patients and people of different sections of society. Loudspeakers have been installed without the permission of Municipal Council and Police Department," he said.


The Municipal Council president said no action will be taken against those who have received due permission for installing loudspeakers.
