Srinagar: Terrorists attacked a check post set up by security forces at Litar in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday.
The soldiers at the check post retaliated to defend themselves. There was fierce firing from both sides for about five minutes. After this the terrorists fled. There is currently no information about any damage or casualties in this attack.
Police sources say that the terrorists carried out the attack from an ambush. It is fortunate that the soldiers were not harmed in this firing. Immediately after the terrorist attack started, the security forces took up their positions and started firing on the terrorists.
Meanwhile, additional security forces were also called in. As soon as the terrorists saw additional units of SOG, Army and CRPF reaching the spot, they fled. Security forces have surrounded the entire area.
The terrorists who were part of this attack are hiding in the Litar Aglar area along the highway. The security forces have cordoned off the area and set up special checkpoints on the entry and exit points in the area.
Vehicles coming and going are being searched and people are also being questioned. Security forces say that terrorists are likely to be present in the area itself. If terrorists are not found in the surrounding area, they will go door-to-door to investigate people.
No terrorist organization operating in Kashmir has claimed responsibility for this attack. Three to four terrorists are suspected to be involved in this attack. Security forces have also appealed to the people to inform them immediately if they see any suspicious activity.
