The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and National Institute of Technology(NIT), Patna on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish 'Regional Academic Centre for Space (RAC-S)'.
Patna: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and National Institute of Technology(NIT), Patna on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish 'Regional Academic Centre for Space (RAC-S)'.
The Centre will provide aid to encourage advanced research among students.
The central government's role here will be significant as it will provide financial assistance of about Rs 2 crore per year to RAC-S.
NIT- Patna is designated as the regional research and development center of the RAC-S. However, RAC-S centres are being set up in many cities in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar and Sikkim.
NIT-P's director PK Jain said that with the help of this collaboration, they can work on joint research projects with the experts' help and under the supervision of scientists.
"In order to meet the requirements of the ISRO, it will promote research activities in various fields such as electronics, communication technology, material science and remote sensing,'' he added.
Futhermore, he asserted that the Centre's financial help will support undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., and teaching departments. It will create various opportunities for them.
Regional Academic Centre for Space (RAC-S) is a regional level new initiative to pursue advanced research in the areas of relevance to the future technological and programmatic needs of the Indian Space Programme and act as a facilitator for the promotion of space technology activities in the region.
