Chandipur (Odisha): The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully tested solid fuel ducted ramjet technology from the interim test range at Chandipur, Odisha.
According to news agency ANI, DRDO officials said, "All the subsystems including ground booster motor have performed as per our expectations." Many new technologies were proven during the trial, including solid fuel based ducted ramjet technology. "
Last month, the DRDO had successfully launched the indigenously designed and developed Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRMAM). The VL-SRSAM is capable of neutralizing various aerial threats at close ranges.
The Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) designed and developed indigenously by DRDO for the Indian Navy has undergone two successful launches today. DRDO tweeted on 22 February, this missile is capable of neutralizing various aerial threats at various borders.
This was also done with a stationary vertical launcher from the integrated test range at Chandipur.
"The current launch was done as part of its first launch campaign to demonstrate vertical launch capability," the Defense Ministry statement said.
On both occasions, the missiles achieved simulated targets with pinpoint accuracy. The missiles were tested for minimum and maximum range. VLR-SRSAM with Weapon Control System (WCS) was deployed during the test. ''
