New Delhi: India has reported a record spike of 1,26,789 fresh cases and 685 deaths in the past 24 hours.

As many as 59,258 people were discharged in the last 24-hour, as per the data shared by the health ministry.
The nationwide surge in the country has led many states to reinforce night curfews and partial and weekend lockdowns. The latest city to impose a night curfew amid the rising Covid-19 cases is Lucknow.

Meanwhile, many states have also informed Centre that they are facing scarcity of covid-19 vaccines. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Thope on Wednesday wrote to Union Health Minister about the same, while also urging him to expand the covid-19 vaccination drive and make vaccination available for all adults. Andhra Pradesh also the Centre for more vaccine doses and cried a shortage in supply, the Centre refuted the claims of vaccine scarcity.
In a major development, the centre has now allowed vaccination at workplaces with about 100 eligible beneficiaries from April 11
