New Delhi: There is good news for lakhs of central employees. They have got the gift of increase in DA today. Government employees have been waiting for this day for a long time.
The meeting of the Union Cabinet was held on Wednesday. This decision was taken in this meeting itself. Now government employees will get increased salary.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur said at a press conference that the government has decided to remove the ban on Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees. Along with this, the government has also agreed to remove the moratorium on dearness relief for pensioners.
Thakur informed that the Union Cabinet has decided to restore DA and DR. He said that the rate of DA was 17 percent, which has increased by 11 percent. Due to which it will now become 28 percent. He said that this will be implemented from July 1, 2021. The move is estimated to cost the government Rs 34,400 crore.
With this move of the government, the central employees will get the increased salary from the month of August. Let us tell you that the central employees are getting 17 percent DA at present. In January 2019, it had increased to 21 per cent. But due to the Corona epidemic, the hike was frozen till June 2021.
Let us now know how much a lower level central employee getting basic salary of Rs 18,000 will benefit from the increase in DA.
This is the calculation regarding Dearness Allowance
Level 1 Basic pay = Rs 18000
28% DA = Rs 5040 per month
Yearly DA = Rs 60,480
According to this calculation, now an employee earning a basic salary of Rs 18,000 will get Rs 5040 per month and Rs 60,480 per year as dearness allowance. At present, according to the DA of 17 percent, the employee gets dearness allowance of Rs 3060 per month, which is Rs 36,720 for a year.
Accordingly, due to DA Hike, this employee will get Rs 1980 more per month and Rs 23,760 more per year.
