Life has been disturbed by the rain. Cyclone Yaas is moving from south-east to north-west direction in Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rain and lightning in many states including UP, Bihar and Jharkhand by May 30.
IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that heavy to very heavy rains may occur in Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. In Jharkhand too, an alert has been issued regarding heavy rains.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to Cyclone Yaas, the weather will remain the same for the next three-four days. Therefore, the district administration has appealed people not to move out of their homes unnecessarily.
According to Skymet Weather, moderate to heavy showers and thunder showers may occur over Interior Odisha, Jharkhand, parts of northern Chhattisgarh and parts of Bihar. Heavy to moderate rains may occur over West Bengal, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kerala with light to moderate rains. Light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells may occur over North East India, Lakshadweep and parts of Central Uttar Pradesh. Moderate rains may occur at one or two places with light rain in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Southwest Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Heavy rains in many districts of UP, alert issued
Due to Cyclone Yaas, the districts of central UP are receiving heavy rains along with Purvanchal. Its impact is very less in western Uttar Pradesh.
Meteorologists have issued orange alerts for several districts. The meteorological department predicts that the temperature in the districts in eastern UP and central UP will decrease for the next three to four days due to Cyclone Yaas.
According to the meteorological forecast, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Ballia, Mau and Ghazipur are likely to receive heavy rainfall from May 27 to 28. Apart from these districts, strong rains are forecast in Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Maharajganj, Ambedkar Nagar, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra.
From the morning of May 28 to the morning of May 29, districts in which heavy rain alert has been issued. Among them are Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Ballia, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh and Mau.
Heavy rain in many districts of Bihar
Cyclone Yaas has reached Bihar. The impact of the storm is visible in Kosi, Seemanchal and East Bihar. It has been raining with strong winds since morning. Power supply has been disrupted due to the strong wind in many districts.
Due to the wind and rain, the temperature here has come down. There is silence on the streets. Several districts including Bhagalpur, Supaul, Katihar and Purnia have been raining with strong winds.
So far, no loss of life or property has been reported from any district of the state. On Wednesday, the Meteorological Department said that Cyclone Yas in Bihar will become less effective and turn into depression. Its speed here will be 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Earlier on Wednesday, strong winds and rains flooded hundreds of coastal villages in Odisha and Bengal and devastated lakhs of homes.
Heavy rains in Jharkhand, floods in Ranchi
Though it has been raining in the entire Jharkhand due to Cyclone Yaas, the rains in Ranchi have created flood-like conditions. Due to heavy rains in Ranchi, the water of the local river is also increasing continuously.
