New Delhi: India reported 31,118 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall Covid -19 tally to over 94.62 lakh. With 501 more people dying due to the virus in last 24-hour, the death toll has climbed 1,38,122.
The number of deaths crossed 500 mark for the first time in six days.
The total number of cases in country currently stand at 94,99,414. As of now, the total active cases in the country are 4,28,644.
With 43,062 more people discharged in last 24-hour, the total recoveries have crossed 89,32,647.
Covid-19 Testing: The total number of samples tested till now have reached 14,24,45,949. Of these, 10,96,651 samples were tested on Tuesday, said Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR).
India's worst COVID-19-affected state, Maharashtra, logged in 4,930 new cases, pushing the total tally to18,28,826. The state also reported 95 deaths, which have taken total fatality toll to 47,246.
Delhi reported 4,006 new covid-19 cases and 86 deaths on Tuesday, said that bulleting released by the state health department.
Meanwhile, Delhi government on Tuesday told SC that the city is grappling with the third wave of the pandemic since November 2020 even as it continues to take all the necessary guidelines. It further added that with the help from Centre and agencies such as NITI Ayog and ICMR, it has so far managed to keep situation under control.
In other news related to the pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday announced to bring down the rate of covid-19 RT PCR tests. The rate for the test has been reduced to Rs 700 from Rs 1,600 in private labs.
Talking about the vaccination process, Central government on Tuesday said that i critical mass of the population will be the first to get vaccination. According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual all party meeting on December 4 to discuss the covid-19 situation in the country.
