New Delhi: India has recorded 44,489 fresh cases of covid-19 in the last 24-hour, taking nations total tally to 92,66,705. With 524 new deaths, the total fatality toll in the country has mounted up to 1,35,223.
The active cases currently stand at 4,52,344, said the latest update from Health Ministry. With 36,367 new discharges in the last 24-hour, the total recoveries have now crossed 86,79,138.
India's recovery rate has further improved and as of Thursday, stands at 93.66 per cent.
Kerala on Thursday reported the most number of cases with 6,491 additions, Maharashtra was second with 6,159 infections while Delhi dropped to third position as it recorded 5,246 new cases.
The top five worst affected states by the pandemic are -- Maharashtra(17, 17,95,959), Karnataka (8,78,055), Andhra Pradesh (8,64,674 cases), Tamil Nadu (7,74,710 cases) and Kerala(5,78,363).
Covid-9 testing: According to the latest update from Indian Council of Medical Research, total samples tested up to November 25, that is Thursday, stand at 13,59,31,545. Of these. 10,90,238 samples were tested on Wednesday.
As a part of newly introduced measure to curb covid-19 infection, 110 domestic passengers arriving from Delhi, Goa, Gujarat and Rajasthan underwent testing at the Mumbai airport. No traveller tested positive at the airport testing. Meanwhile, in the screening and testing at railway station, 10 travellers were tested positive for the infection on Wednesday.
Uttarakhand government has fixed the maximum permissible cost to be charged for Rapid Antigen Testing across laboratories in the state at Rs 679, ANI reported.
Delhi, which is witnessing the worst surge of virus, concluded a massive five-day survey among people living in covid-19 hotspots in Delhi. The survey involving 57.3 lakh people, aimed at identifying and isolating people infected with the virus, found 13,516 people symptomatic with a positivity rate of 6.4 per cent.
To curb the covid-19 spread, the Goa government has now made it mandatory for the passengers arriving at the state's airport and railways station to undergo thermal screening.
Global covid-19 tally: The overall global covid-19 tally on Thursday have surpassed the grim milestone of 60 million according to Johns Hopkins University. The case count currently stands at 600,037,735 while the death toll has soared high to 1,413,325.
The United States remains the worst-affected country with 12,12,642,245 cases and 260,591 fatalities. It is followed by India (92,66,705 cases and 1,35,223 deaths) and Brazil(6,118,708 cases and 170,115 deaths).
