New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday claimed that the peak of the COVID-19 third wave has arrived in the national capital.
"Cases' peak has arrived, let's see when the decline begins...seems like cases have begun to slow down," Jain said.
He further informed that COVID-19 cases in Delhi are expected to be reducted by 4,000 today. "Positivity rate will be around 30 per cent; hospital admission rate has not risen in past five-six days. This indicates that cases are going to be fewer in the coming days. 85 per cent of hospital beds vacant," Jain informed.
Delhi reported 24,383 new COVID-19 cases and 34 deaths on Friday. The case positivity rate was at 30.64 per cent. Delhi now has 92,273 active COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, as many as 2,68,833 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in India in the last 24 hours, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Saturday.
The daily positivity rate has increased to 16.66 per cent, up from 14.78 per cent on Friday. India currently has 14,17,820 active cases of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, the confirmed cases of new coronavirus variant -- Omicron -- has increased to 6,041 in the country.
