New Delhi: With 36,594 new Covid-19 infections reported on Friday, India's total caseload has been pushed to to 95,71,559. In the last 24-hour, 540 people lost their lives due to the virus, taking the overall tally to 1,39,188, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
The total number of active cases have fallen down to 4,16,082. With 42,916 more people recovering from the virus on Thursday, the total number of people who have recuperated has reached 90 -lakh mark.
Total number of samples tested up to 3rd December is 14,47,27,749. Of these, 11,70,102 samples were tested on Thursday: Indian Council of Medical Research.
The recovery rate stands at 94.2 per cent and fatality at 1.45 as per cent, the Ministry said.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the worst hit state with 18,37,358 cases as on date. The state currently has 85,535 active cases while 47,472 fatalities have been recorded.
Over 70 per cent of the daily new cases have been recorded from Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Chhattisgarh, the Ministry added.
Meanwhile, the overall number of global covid-19 cases has surpassed 65 million mark. On the other hand, the death toll has reached past 1.50 million, according to latest update from Johns Hopkins University.
The US is still the worst hit country by the pandemic with 14, 14,124,678 cases and 276,148, deaths.
