Jodhpur (Rajasthan): In a sensational development, 11 Pakistani Hindus were found dead here on Sunday.
All the eleven migrants were the members of the same family and apart from them, the state police found a person alive belonging to the same family. They lived at Lodha village of Dechu area, an officer was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
“But he claimed to have no idea about the incident, which believed to have happened in the night,” said Rahul Barhat, Superintendent of Police.
“We are yet to ascertain the cause and means of death. But apparently, all the members appeared to have committed suicide by consuming some chemical in the night,” Barhat added.
The SP also said that there was a smell of some chemical around the hut, which indicates the family members may have smelled or consumed some poisonous substance. All the family members were Pakistani Hindus who crossed the border for a better life in India. The Bhil community migrants were living on a farm in the village, where all of them were hired for farming work.
“There was neither any injury mark on any of the bodies nor any shreds of evidence of any foul play,” the SP said. “But we have roped in the forensic team and a dog squad to arrive at any final conclusion.”
Preliminary information indicated that there were some disputes in the family but the smell of chemicals and the other clues are tending this is a planned murder.
“Once we interrogate the survivor, we would be in any position to find out that what had led to this incident,” the SP said.
