India to take up Masood Azhar’s detention with Pak SIT team

New Delhi: India has said that it has ‘carefully noted’ comments by Pakistan Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz on JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammad) chief Masood Azhar’s detention and it will discuss the issue with the Pakistan team, which will visit India to investigate the Patahnkot terror attack.

"We have carefully noted the comments made (by Aziz) on Maulana Masood Azhar. I think it will be a subject of discussion once the SIT visits India," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup told the media.

He further said that India was awaiting a firm proposal from Pakistan on 'dates and composition' of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and only after that security agencies will decide what all places will be visited by the team.

During a TV interview recently, Aziz had said Masood Azhar and a few other JeM operatives have been kept under protective custody and that some of the terror outfit's premises have also been sealed.

Meanwhile, the Counter Terrorism Department of the Punjab police has registered an FIR against the ‘alleged attackers of the Pathankot airbase in India’.  Pak’s move has been well received by New Delhi and it has decided to cooperate with the Pak team and facilitate it in its investigation.
