In most scathing attack on Akhilesh, Mulayam lashes out at his son again

Lucknow: In a bid to placate his brother Shivapal Singh Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday launched the most scathing attack again on his son whom he had given more power, regarding selecting candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party leader had never hesitated in attacking his son in public but yesterday's attack was the most harsh one.

Mulayam even went on to the extent of questioning his son's contribution towards the political base of the party. He revealed that Shivpal was not keen on making Akhilesh as CM of Uttar Pradesh after the 2012 elections and suggested that he should be given the post of CM only after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. But eventually, no one opposed and he became CM in 2012.

But no concrete result came out despite his elevation to the CM post. Only a few members of the family won in the LS polls.

On being asked about Amar Singh, he said, “Amar Singh was the only person who did not leave me when a CBI inquiry was launched against me. Everybody had dumped me during that time except Amar.

In the evening yesterday, Mulayam had a meeting with Shivpal and Akhilesh, after which he decided that Akhilesh would be appointed chairman of the party’s state parliamentary board.

A formal announcement could be made on Sunday, party sources said.
