How Farhan Akhtar made a fool of himself when he told voters not to vote for Pragya Thakur

New Delhi, News24 Bureau, May 19: Farhan Akhtar had a foot-in-mouth moment when he tweeted "SayNoToPragya". Why the otherwise sensible actor was badly trolled for his tweet. Farhan Akhtar and his parents Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi are politically very active and well-informed too. The family always takes a stand on important national issues, so Farhan Akhtar also, as a loyal citizen, with a good intention tweeted "Dear electorate of Bhopal, it's time for you to save your city from another full-of-gas tragedy. #SayNoToPragya #SayNoToGodse #RememberTheMahatma #ChooseLoveNotHate."

The only problem was that he was late in tweeting the good-intention tweet. Now, why was he trolled for this? The thing is that the parliamentary constituency has already voted in the sixth phase of polls on May 12 last Sunday, which means Farhan is a tad too late in his political appeal.

With India voting in the last leg of the Lok Sabha elections on Sunday, Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar was massively trolled after he made an appeal to voters of Bhopal to vote against BJP's Pragya Thakur.Hawk-eyed Twitter users couldn't spare the actor for his faux pas. They were not only quick in pointing out the delay but also slammed the actor for his reference to the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, one of the world's worst industrial disasters which claimed around 15,000 lives."Making fun of the gas tragedy and its victims. #Shameless," wrote a user."Change your internet connection. Your tweets are taking 10 days to be published," read another tweet.Yet another user wrote, "These guys are so cut off from reality."After the flurry of replies and merciless trolling, the "Rock On!!" actor has admitted to making a mistake in a stylish way and has tweeted thus:
