He ruled box office in the 90s and early 2000s and was one of the most popular actors of the time. The actor known for his 'No.1' franchise, quirky dance moves and impeccable comic timing ruled the hearts of the critics and the audience alike.

He was also voted the tenth greatest star of stage or screen of the last thousand years by BBC News Online users, Govinda started his career in 1986 with 'Ilzaam'.

Here is the list of his five best movies:

Raja Babu

Best remembered for Govinda's Michael Jackson impersonation, Raja Babu saw him and Shakti Kapoor engaged in some truly memorable shenanigans as the hero farcically hit on Karisma Kapoor. Obviously David Dhawan was behind the helm, and this 1994 film saw him in top slapstick form.

HERO NO. 1

This film was released in 1997. Its story is about two young Indians who fall in love with each other in Europe. They want to tie their knot. The movie was directed by David Dhawan. Cast of film is Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, and Kader Khan.

Coolie No 1

A remake of a Telugu film, Coolie No 1 again saw Govinda paired with Karisma, while Kader Khan and Shakti Kapoor pushed the limits of tolerance with their now-familiar routine.

The acting is weak all around, but this film is worth a watch only for Govinda and his truly phenomenal comic timing that saves the day.

Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan

This one isn't the greatest of films, but definitely worth a mention since Govinda took the opportunity to completely outshine Amitabh Bachchan. The duo starred together for the first time and Govinda, in top form, was startlingly candid as he ran rings around the Big B.

BHAGAM BHAG

This movie was released in 2006. It stars Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Paresh Rawal, and Govinda in the lead roles. The story of this movie is about some friends who visit UK. The movie is directed by Priyadarshan, and was a big hit of Govinda’s career.
