Prachi Bhardwaj, New Delhi: Veteran actress Hema Malini is also known as 'Dream Girl' of Bollywood. the actress has been missing out from the industry and was last seen on the big screen in the year 2003, opposite Amitabh Bachchan in 'Baghban'.
Hema who was politically active has now decided to make a comeback in the town but not as an actress. According to media reports, Hema Malini will make her debut as a singer with a bhajan album, 'Gopala Ko Samarpan'. Composed by maestros Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Rajan and Sajan Mishra, the album will be released on the occasion of Janmashtami, i.e. 14th August at the Iskcon Temple in Juhu, Mumbai.
Hema Milini revealed that it was poet Narayan Agarwal who convinced her to take this challenge and lend her voice for soulful Krishna bhajans. To the record, poet Narayan Agarwal is a Krishna devotee and hence has penned down the lyrics of the bhajan. The poet earlier heard the actress chanting Soundarya Lahari (a famous Sanskrit literary work which is believed to be written by sage Pushpadanta and Adi Shankara) and wanted her to sing.
"Her Sanskrit pronunciation is impeccable and that's vital for any recitation. Hemaji was initially unsure if her political assignments would leave her with enough time to rehearse. It was a Herculean task and needed plenty of coordination but I didn't let go," Narayan Agarwal said.
