New Delhi: The Ketogenic diet, most commonly known as Keto diet, is one of the widely used method to lose weight. The diet includes low intake of carbs and and increases fat take which helps in reducing instant weight. While it is a very effective way to lose extra kilos, it it noteworthy that Keto diet carries many risk as well.
Not long ago, we witnessed case of Bengali actress Mishti Mukherjee who died of kidney failure at the age of 30. It was reported that the actress was on a keto diet. While harmful effects of diets have been known for a while, death due to a diet is something unheard of.
According to experts, keto diet can show results in just one week. The keto diet should only be taken under expert's supervision and should not continue for long.
What is keto diet?
It contains high amount of fat, protein and low carbohydrates. This is followed more by diabetes patients. Taking it reduces the level of insulin and sugar in the body rapidly. It is also considered effective for reducing weight. Its best use may be in the treatment of epilepsy patients.

Some people taking Keto diet have low blood pressure problems. Taking fat for a long time also affects the heart due to increasing bad cholesterol. The risk of heart disease is higher than normal people. Taking a keto diet for more than six months can cause many serious health problems.
