New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the budget for financial year 2021-2022 said that women will be allowed to work in all categories. Referring to jobs that require employees to work in 24/7 shifts, Ms Sitharaman said that adequate protection would be provided to women working in the night shifts.
With Nirmala Sitharaman being the first female Finance Minister of the country, it was expected that she would bring new developments in issues revolving around women safety, while also introducing some changes that allow equal chances of expression for women.
According to ICME, women accounted for less than 11% of the total Indian workforce, but suffered 14% of the job losses amid the pandemic. Amid this, they had one hope left — Union Budget 2021. While the finance minister did touch the issue, she didn't exactly presented an elaborated plant that may bring about reforms.
