New Delhi: Wrestling will be at par with cricket within few years, believes Ravi Dahiya who has been selected for India’s highest spoorting honour Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
In his first interview after being chosen for Khel ratna Award, he told News24: “Wrestling will become a major sport in the coming times. Sushil Kumar started the medal streak in wrestling and since then, it is on continious high. This time, we have 2 medals, but next time we will get atleast 4-5 medals as we are preparing for that. Wrestling will be more loved by people in the coming years.”
Ravi believes wrestling is growing at a good pace in India and very soon, it will be at par with cricket. “We wrestlers are trying to take wrestling on a much bigger level by giving out best in the field and within few years, wrestling will win many laurels for the country”.
Sharing his opinion on the state of Women’s wrestling in India, he said, “Women are also doing good in the wrestling and I am sure they will come out even stronger in the future”.
