Mumbai: Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Thursday announced that the schools for all classes including pre-schools will reopen from January 24, 2022. The decision has been approved by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as the state has seen a dip in the number of Coronavirus cases.
Gaikwad informed that a meeting was held with the task force and Parents Teacher association where the officials supported the idea of opening schools again. Parents are required to give their consent agreeing on the term to send their children to school.
The minister said the proposal was sent to the Maharashtra Chief Minister regarding the reopening schools across the state. To which, CM has responded with a nod.
The schools have been asked to strictly follow all SOPs in the campus to keep Coronavirus situation in control.
However, the reopening of schools still depends upon the local administration. If the COVID-19 cases are less in the particular area then opening schools again can be taken into consideration.
Thursday saw a decline of almost 3,000 cases in the state's active COVID case count. There are now 2,68,484 patients in Maharashtra infected with COVID.
