Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has launched a new course that offers master's degree in Hindu Studies from this year. The varsity said that this course is unique and one-of-its-kind and aimed at preparing scholars in Indian ancient studies.
According to the spokesperson of the university, the course has been designed as a part of National Educational Policy 2020. Meanwhile, Centenary Chair Professor Rakesh Upadhyaya believes that the programme will help at establishing 'Sanatan' life values.
Through this programme, the varsity is aimed at providing comperihensive knowledge of Hindu Dharma and till now at least 45 students have joined in its first batch.
Indian as well as students from foreign countries are eligible to enrol for this course. The varsity had passed the proposal to launch the following course earlier this month.
Bharat Adhyayan Kendra along with the collaboration of Department of Philosophy and Religion, Department of Sanskrit and Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, under the faculty of Arts will offer the course.
