Hard Kaur

Varanasi, June 19: She is famous for her music. But now Indi pop singer Taran Kaur Dhillon aka Hard Kaur is in the news for the wrong reasons.

The once popular singer has been booked for her abusive remarks on social media against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

Varanasi based lawyer Shashank Shekhar lodged the complaint at the cantonment police on Wednesday.

The FIR against Hard Kaur was lodged under sections 124A (attempt to excite disaffection or hatred), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion), 500 (defamation), 505 (intent to incite) of IPC, 66 (sending offensive messages) IT Act.

Shekhar alleged in his complaint that since he is a RSS volunteer, he was extremely hurt by such social media posts against Bhagwat and Yogi.

The Indian-origin singer also posted the photo of a book on her Twitter titled `Who killed Karkare’. A photograph of slain journalist Gauri Lankesh was also posted with the caption `she won’t be forgotten’.

Several Indian social media users replied to Haur Kaur, and the singer was involved in verbal exchanges with numerous people on her Twitter handle.
