Jodhpur: Gunny bag full of currency notes, in times of cash crunch is shocking. Bu, this is what happened in Rajasthan. What's worse is that of the total Rs 35.30 lakh, Rs 24 lakh was in form of Rs 2000 notes.
Police were in for a shock when they intercepted a truck for checking on the Jodhpur-Jaipur Highway. The truck was carrying iron angles and was coming from Bharatpur. On checking the cabin, the police found a gunny bag full of currency notes of denominations Rs 2000, Rs 100, Rs 50 and Rs 20.
Driver Hem Singh told police that the cash belonged to a crop trader from Mathania near Jodhpur. According to driver, he had gone to Bharatpur to sell groundnuts belonging to that trader and got this money in return from the buyer. The Income Tax department has been informed, and the trader is being interrogated by the police.
