New Delhi, Sep 18: The union government announced on Wednesday that railway employees will be given a bonus of 78 days.
While announcing the decision of the central government, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that this time 11 days and 52 thousand Railway employees will be given a bonus of 78 days. It will cost the Railways a total of Rs 2024 crores.
Javadekar said that for the last 6 years, the central government has been giving bonuses to railway employees.
He said that this decision of the central government is a productivity reward to the railway employees. Along with this, the Modi cabinet has banned e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes will now be completely banned in India.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the Union Cabinet has given the approval to ban e-cigarettes. It means the production, manufacturing, sale, distribution, everything related to e-cigarettes are banned.The government says data shows there is a 77 per cent increase in the use of e-cigarettes among young adults.
“The Union Cabinet has given the approval to ban e-cigarettes. It means the production, manufacturing, import/export, transport, sale, distribution, storage and advertising related to e-cigarettes are banned,” the Finance Minister said at a press conference.
Expressing concern for the youth the Finance Minister said that the decision was taken “so that we could take early action with regards to health of people”.
The senior minister further informed that the government hoped to pass an ordinance when the Parliament meets in the next session.E-cigarettes, are not licensed in India.
Instead of burning tobacco, they use a heating element to vaporise liquid nicotine and this is inhaled by the user.
