New Delhi (Anish Yande): The Jio 5G Phone has been a part of the rumour mill for several months. The upcoming 5G smartphone would be launched by Jio in collaboration with Google. What to expect from Jio 5G phone:
Jio 5G phone is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G chipset from the telecom operator's deals with the chip-maker Qualcomm.
The Jio 5G smartphone is expected to run on Google’s Android OS. Jio 5G Phone would run on a new JioOS, which is a customised Android OS developed by Google for the Jio 5G phone.
The upcoming Jio 5G smartphone is expected to be priced at a price range of Rs 2,500 and Rs 5,000. Jio had stated that they will provide affordable 4G and 5G devices for more than 300 million phone users in India.
Reliance Jio would also provide bundled exclusive prepaid and postpaid plans with the Jio 5G phone priced at an affordable range. The telecom operator plans to sell up to 200 million units of the Jio 5G phone within two years following its launch.

Jio Phone 2 was launched in 2018. The JioPhone 2 smartphone is priced at Rs 2999 only. Jio Phone 2 features a 2.4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 320x 240 pixels. The Jio device is powered by a dual-core chipset clocked at 1GHz. The Phone 2 comes with a 2-megapixel rear shooter whereas a 0.2-megapixel selfie camera.
Jio Phone 2 packs a 2000mAh battery. The Phone 2 is paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. The storage can be expandable up to 128GB via micro-SD. Jio Phone 2 runs on KAI OS and comes with a QWERTY keyboard. Jio Phone 2 also comes with support for Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp.
