After laptop, smartphone too seems to have become a symbol of 'Samajwad'. With elections round the corner, UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced a 'Samjwadi Smartphone scheme'. The aim is to target the gadget crazy youth. Under the scheme, smartphone will be distributed free to those above 18 years.
The minimum educational qualification has been fixed as class X. To avoid chaos, the online applications have been invited. However, state government staff and their families have been excluded from the scheme. In case of private sector, those with an annual income above Rs 2 lakh will not be eligble for free smartphones.
The online registration is likely to start before Diwali this year.
