Four Signs of an ear infection in your child

When the weather changes, your respiratory health gets effected first. An ear infection is a very common ailment in kids. An inflammation of the middle ear, usually caused by bacteria, that occurs when fluid builds up behind the eardrum. Anyone can get an ear infection, but children get them more often than adults. Five out of six children will have at least one ear infection by their third birthday.  The scientific name for an ear infection is otitis media (OM).

Four signs of an ear infection in your child: 

  • Tugging at the ears

  • Ear drainage — milky white or yellowish white with a distinct odour

  • Cranky or irritable mood

  • Fever greater than 100 degrees
