Five BSF jawans injured in militants attack in Srinagar

Aasif Suhaf, New Delhi, Oct 29: In Jammu & Kashmir, security forces arrested three militants on Srinagar Baramulla highway in the outskirts of Srinagar city early this evening.Security sources said suspected militants travelling in a vehicle jumped police checkpoint (Naka) while opening fire towards security guard personnel near Shalteng in Srinagar outskirts.

The security forces also retaliated and one among three suspects on board the vehicle was injured in the brief shootout.Later, two militants were intercepted in the fleeing vehicle and overpowered near Narbal on Srinagar-Baramulla Highway and arrested. Their questioning is going on.The injured militant has been taken to nearby JVC Hospital for treatment. Arms and ammunition was also recovered from the arrested trio.

Sources said all the three are from locals from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. However, Police have not revealed identity of the arrested persons so far.In another incident five Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were wounded when militants attacked their vehicle in Pantha Chowk area on Srinagar Jammu national highway in Srinagar outskirts this evening.

Security sources said the militants fired upon a Border Security Force (BSF) vehicle at Zewan Crossing leaving five BSF personnel injured and damaged the vehicle partially.They said all the injured have been shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
