Hyderabad: Telugu playback singer G Anand has passed away on Thursday evening due to Covid-19 complications at the age of 67. He had tested positive for the virus a few days ago, his oxygen saturation fell to 55 and a timely ventilator could not be provided, which lead to his death, reports said.
G Anand was a native of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh and made his singing debut in 1976 with the Amerika Ammayi movie. In the film, he voiced the hit song “Oka Venuvu Vinipinchenu.” Besides his extensive career in cinema, he has also sung and released several devotional albums. He also established a musical troupe named Swaramadhuri, which has performed across the world.
The veteran singer had sung "Yeliyallo Yeliyallo for Chiranjeevi in his first film, titled 'Pranam Khareedu". Sharing his condolences, the actor in a statement said, “I am shocked to learn about the demise of Shri G Anand due to Covid-19. I have danced for the first time on the big screen for a song sung by him, and it has established an unconditional bond with him. His demise is a sad thing that stays with me for a long time. My condolences to his family.”
Dikkulu choodaku ramayya, Vittala vittala, Manasa Manasa and Padavulu are some of G Anand's best creations.
