New Delhi: Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu breaks her silence on over tax evasion I-T raid. She addressed the allegations against her in a series of tweets. Taking to her Twitter handle, the 33 years old actress wrote “3 days of intense search of 3 things primarily. 1. The keys of the “alleged” bungalow that I apparently own in Paris. Because summer holidays are around the corner (sic).”
The second tweet read, “2. The “alleged” receipt worth 5 crores to frame n keep for future pitching coz I’ve been refused that money before (sic).”
The last tweet from Taapsee read, “3. My memory of 2013 raid that happened with me according to our honourable finance minister.” In the end, she joked, "P.S- “not so sasti” anymore (sic)."
The series of tweets came after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Friday that the same persons were raided in 2013 as well, but it did not lead to an outcry like in the present case. Political leaders and celebs had responded to the IT raids, including Rahul Gandhi, RJD and the Shiv Sena.
Earlier, Taapsee Pannu's boyfriend Mathias Boe comes out in support of girlfriend. Taking to his Twitter account, Mathias wrote, "Finding myself in a bit of turmoil. Representing Flag of India for the first time as a coach for some great athletes, meanwhile, the I-T department is raiding Taapsee’s houses back home, putting unnecessary stress on her family, especially her parents. Man shrugging. @KirenRijiju please do something."
In response Kiren Rijiju, the current Minister of State of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs of India, who was tagged in Mathias' tweet responded to this tweet saying, "Law of the land is supreme and we must abide by that. The subject matter is beyond yours and my domain. We must stick to our professional duties in the best interest of Indian Sports."
The Income Tax raids on Taapsee, Anurag and his other partners, who launched the now-shuttered Phantom Films, began on March 3. Raids were carried out across 30 locations in Mumbai and Pune. Reliance Entertainment group CEO Shibhasish Sarkar and some executives of celebrity and talent management companies KWAN and Exceed were also covered.
