New Delhi: Comedian Pete Davidson is all set to leave 'Saturday Night Live', where he has been a staple for the show's past eight seasons.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pete had joined the Lorne Michaels sketch comedy as one of its youngest-ever cast members at the age of 20. Other cast members including Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney are also expected to announce their departure alongside Davidson during SNL’s season 47 finale, to be hosted by Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll) and featuring musical guest Japanese Breakfast.

This news of Pete's departure comes after he recently introduced his new Peacock comedy, 'Bupkis', to Madison Avenue ad buyers at NBCUniversal's upfront presentation. The series, inspired by his life, is exec produced by Michaels and the SNL mastermind's NBCUniversal-based Broadway Video.

As per Variety, In an appearance at NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation earlier this week, Davidson cracked a few jokes about the series and the streaming hub on which it will appear. “I can’t believe we are going to be on Peacock, the streamer that is responsible for so so many great shows like ‘MacGruber” and the reruns of ‘The Office,’” he joked, adding in deadpan fashion: “I’m here so the media will finally start paying attention to me.”

Earlier, in June 2021 when he was asked about his heartfelt words on the episode Davidson told Gold Derby, “It was an emotional week, Speaking for myself, I don’t know what the plan is. Everything’s kind of up in the air right now just depending on scheduling.”

“It is my seventh year and that’s what the contract is usually for,” he added. “[The finale] was really emotional. I worked with these guys for a fourth of my life. … I started there with acne and left with tattoos. It was just like a crazy, long period of time, and [I] wasn’t ready for the season to end yet because I was really having so much fun," he added.

For the unversed, Davidson, who joined 'SNL' in season 20 as a relatively unknown person, has become one of its biggest stars and an internet favourite. He's currently dating Kim Kardashian after the social media star and influencer hosted 'SNL' last year.
