New Delhi: Actor Kangana Ranaut on Saturday paid tribute to late actress and adept politician Jayalalithaa on her death anniversary. Kangana took to Twitter to share some pictures from her upcoming Thalaivi.
“On the death anniversary of Jaya Amma, sharing some working stills from our film Thalaivi- the revolutionary leader. All thanks to my team, especially the leader of our team Vijay sir who is working like a super human to complete the film, just one more week to go," she wrote as she shared some pictures from the sets of her upcoming film.
The pictures show Kangana dressed in a white cotton sari with distinguished border. In one of the pictures, she is seen facing the camera as she walks with extreme pride. In another picture, she can be seen standing in a room full of men as they hold a discussion. The third picture shows Kangana serving food to little girls.
Directed by AL Vijay, Thalaivi, which is loosely based on the life of Jayalalithaa, sees Kangana in the titular role in of the former Tamil Nadu chief minister. The film will feature Jayalaithaa's life's chronicles from an actor to one of the most loved political leaders.
For the role of Thalaivi, Kangana underwent major transformation. The actor reportedly put on 20 kg weight for the role and then shred 17 kg for a song in the same film.
Earlier, pressing Kangana's commitment to her characer, director AL Vijay said, "Everyone knows how good Kangana is as an actress. Her screen presence, performance and dialogue delivery as Jayalalithaa was amazing. To look like Amma, she took a lot of effort; she put on 17 kilos and had to reduce 15 kilos for a song."
"Kangana’s knowledge about filmmaking and pulse of the audience is amazing. She has a lot to contribute; during the script-reading session she was telling us how we should have a really good introduction scene for Madhoo."
