Aasif Suhaf, Srinagar, Nov 28: Budgam Encounter UPDATE: Naveed Jatt and another terrorist gunned down by security forces. Jatt was involved in the assassination of journalist Shujaat Bukhari.
"This week was great, those involved in killing of innocent people in Kulgam, Pulwama & Shopian belt were neutralized. As per ground verification, top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Naveed Jatt was one of the 2 terrorists killed today," said J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh.
An encounter broke out on Wednesday between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Chatregam village of Central Kashmir's Budgam district this morning. In the meantime, two militants have been killed and three army personnel are injured in an encounter with militants in Chatregam area of Budgam Central Kashmir.Security sources said that encounter started between militants and a joint team of forces following specific inputs about the presence of militants in this Budgam area, forces zeroed in on the suspected place following inputs about the presence of militants in the area and offered militants to surrender who in return fired upon the forces triggering the encounter. So far two unidentified militants are believed to be killed but their bodies have not been retrieved so far.Meanwhile, three army personals also sustained injuries in the initial gunfight, as per police officials operation is still on.Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kuthpora area of Budgam in the morning, following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.The militants opened fire at the security forces who were carrying out searches, he said. The firing was retaliated by the forces, leading to a gun battle, the official said, adding there was no report of any injury or casualty.The authorities have snapped internet services in Budgam as a precautionary measure.
