NEW DELHI (DIVYA SAINI): National Testing Agency (NTA) is planning to conduct JEE Main 2021 examination in February instead of January 2021 and the registration process may begin from the next month i.e December 2020. The aspirant can check the official notice on official website of NTA on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
The decision to postpone the exam was taken by NTA due to the increasing number of COVID cases across the country.
An official said, “As the engineering admission is still underway, it is being considered that JEE-Main of 2021 be pushed to February. This will give a chance to students who were not satisfied with the choice of branch or their score.”
"Rising number of coronavirus cases is also a factor for postponement of the exam," he added.
Last year, NTA announced exam dates in August and started the registration process for the JEE Main exam in September.
In 2020, 8.58 lakh candidates registered for the JEE Main exam out of which only 74 per cent appeared.
The examination consists of two papers: Paper 1 for BTech and BE courses and Paper 2 for Barch and BPlanning courses. Till 2018 the exam use to be conducted through offline mode through pen paper/ OMR Sheet way. But since 2019 the pattern of conducting exam has been changed to Computer based exam (CBT) which is an online way of conducting an exam. A candidate can avail maximum of three attempts for consecutive years.
Till 2020 the exam was conducted in three languages Hindi, English and Gujrati. from 2021 it will be conducted in eleven languages.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said "The current academic session is seriously disturbed due to ongoing Corona crises. The syllabus for all classes will be reduced to 50% because of the loss of school days. Next year's entrance exams like NEET and JEE should also be based on this reduced syllabus to align with the current year's class syllabus’
