Don’t be innovative. Saudi man tried smuggling alcohol, got busted

New Delhi: Use of intoxicants, be it in any form, is prohibited in Islam. Being a Muslim state and home to the sacred Mecca, Saudi Arabia strictly follows the interpretations of the Koran, and therefore exercises complete ban on alcohol. It is illegal to either produce, import, or consume alcohol and people found indulging in any of it, are subject to harsh punishments.

But, strange are the ways of men. They are innovative. They devise ways out of the blocked roads. One such endeavour of smuggling didn’t go down too well.

The man (above), clad in Saudi’s traditional thobe, had attached ten bottles of alcohol to his back. The photo was released by the official twitter handle of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's customs department.
