Dhoni made sacrifice for Kohli..MSD reveals SECRET first time..BIG news, don't miss

New Delhi, Sep 13: Why MS Dhoni made the great sacrifice of giving up captaincy? The secret is finally out, and MSD himself has revealed it. Speaking at a CISF motivational event in Ranchi, MSD detailed the reasons for his  decision to leave the limited-overs captaincy for Virat Kohli

Dhoni said he wanted to prepare Virat and give him enough time to build team for the 2019 ICC World Cup to be played in England and Wales.

"I resigned from captaincy because I wanted the new captain (Virat Kohli) to get enough time for preparing a team before the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019," Dhoni, who led India to 2011 World Cup triumph," Dhoni said.

It was in January 2017 that Dhoni gave up the ODI and T20I captaincy, handing over the reign to Kohli. Justifying his reason for quitting, the legendary cricketer believes that this gave Kohli Kohli more than two years to build his team.

"Selecting a strong team without giving the new captain appropriate time isn't possible. I believe that I left the captaincy at the right time," said the former captain.
