New Delhi:In its Rs 48,000 crore budget, the Delhi government has allocated Rs 11,300 crore for education, Rs 5,736 crore for health and Rs 5,506 crore for transport.For the third year in a row, the Delhi government has not raised any of the existing tax rates or imposed any new taxes in its budget, Finance Minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday.
Here's what different sections get in this budget:
Students: Will get bananas and boiled eggs in midday meals. Girls to get midday meals till Class 12. 400 new libraries, two computer rooms in each school. A Pharmaceutical University will come up.
Teachers: Will get tablets to track the progress of students.
Women: Value added tax on sanitary pads cut from 12.5% to 5%.
Patients: More Mohalla Clinics and polyclinics, where you will get free consultations, medicines and tests. More beds in governnment hospitals. Expensive tests and surgeries free. At very little premium, Rs 1 lakh medical insurance.
Commuters: Underpass at Ashram and Mahipalpur. Metro phase-III and Barapullah phase-III work will be completed this year.
