Brazilian football star Neymar Jr just completed a world record transfer from FC Barcelona to French club Paris Saint Germain here on Friday. This gives us an opportunity to go back to the past to revisit his movie acting debut in Vin Diesel, Deepika Padukone-starrer xXx: Return of Xander Cage.
Neymar, whose transfer deal was made for 222 million euros ($261.32 million, Rs 1600 crore), played a would-be xXx agent in the action thriller. His scene comes at the beginning of a film at a diner, where Samuel L Jackson’s character, Gibbons, delivers expositional dialogue about the history of the covert xXx programme in an attempt to recruit the football star.
Their talk is interrupted by a robber. Neymar surveys his surroundings and using his exceptional football skills, brings him down.
Samuel L Jackson lets out a gleeful yelp, which is cut short when a rogue satellite crashes into the diner, killing them both.
xXx: Return of Xander Cage made a respectable $346 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $85 million when it opened in January. Talk of a sequel is on.
