New Delhi: In a surprise move the Congress on Saturday removed Digvijay Singh as incharge of Karnataka and Goa. This comes nearly two months after Congress could not form a government in Goa, despite being in a position to form one.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi named KC Venugopal as the in-charge Karnataka, while A Chella Kumar was given charge of Goa.
Senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry has also been removed from the position of the party’s general secretary.
Many Congress leaders had openly blamed Singh for the Goa debacle. The move comes a year before elections in Congress-run Karnataka.
