New Delhi, News24 Bureau, Feb 21: This was expected as this goes according to the pattern: after the terrorists attack the political parties, both ruling and the opposition pledge solidarity to the national cause and appear to be sticking together; but this just temporary understanding. And then begins an array of accusations and counter-accusations.
Congress senior spokesperson Randeep Surjewala in a press conference pointed out that how PM Narendra Modi did not give the Pulwama Attack its importance and was shooting in Jim Corbett for a film as the nation mourned.
"When the whole country was mourning the loss of lives of our jawans in Pulwama Attack in the afternoon, PM Narendra Modi was busy shooting for a film in Jim Corbett park till evening. Is there any PM in the world like this? I have no words really."
He also alleged that the BJP is also politicising the issue.
He further said, "The Pulwama terror attack is an attack on the integrity of our nation. During this hour of tragedy, the Congress party extends its support to our security forces."
The popular sentiments in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack are wildly against Pakistan as this is being seen as the handiwork of Pak-sponsored terrorists, the JeM. This terrorist outfit has also taken the responsibility of this attack. There is an outpouring of both sentiments and funds for the aggrieved family of the CRPF jawans, 40 in total, who lost their lives.
Both The government and the opposition has been very careful of not politicising the issue and hurt the popular sentiments in the process. But the fact is that both were waiting for an opportunity as to who gets an opportunity to pounce first. And with the news of the PM shooting in Jim Corbett for a film comes as a good catch for the opposition.
