New Delhi, Dec 15-Xiaomi’s to launch a 48-megapixel camera phone in January
Xiaomi has been very aggressive with its smartphone launches across segments and after introducing the Redmi Note 6 Pro, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is now planning to launch its next smartphone in January 2019, which will feature a 48-megapixel rear camera.Xiaomi's President Lin Bin has shared a post through Chinese social network Weibo confirming that Xiaomi’s new smartphone will be launched in January with a 48-megapixel camera. This news is also confirmed by Manu Kumar Jain, who heads Xiaomi India, that the company will be launching a new smartphone which will be powered by the Snapdragon 675 processor, which will support the 48-megapixel camera sensor.
In July, Sony launched the Sony IMX586 sensor, which comes with effective 48-megapixels as well as minute 0.8-micron pixels. It was earlier reported that Sony had started shipping samples of this sensor to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in September this year and Xiaomi is likely to integrate the same sensor for its new smartphone.Going by the post of Lin Bin on Weibo, it is officially confirmed that the rear camera lens of the smartphone will feature a 48-megapixel camera sensor. In the similar post, the Xiaomi's President also says that he has been using the device for weeks now, confirming that the new Xiaomi smartphone will be launched in January. However, the look and price of the upcoming smartphone are yet to be known.
