New Delhi, May 14: The Korean car maker company, Kia Motors has released the first official sketches of its upcoming compact SUV based on the SP concept featured in the 2018 Auto Expo. The SUV is expected to launch before September this year.
Looks wise, one has to admit that the upcoming compact SUV is stunning. The Kia SP concept SUV has been seen testing it multiple times across India. There are speculations that this particular model could sport the 'Kia Trailster' moniker. Recently in Korea, Kia showcased Kia SP Signature concept, a close-to-production version of this SUV.
The sketches revealed by Kia Motors India does match on the lines of the SP Signature concept.
Design
The Kia SP SUV is sported with a stylish nose and sharp-looking headlight and bumper design or the bold 'Tiger Nose' grille.
The carmaker has also confirmed that the model will come with LED headlamps and tail-lamps. They feature a three-dimensional light graphic and a highly technical diamond pattern at their edges.
As per the sketches, the SUV's front and rear design with the headlamps has four separate LED diodes with LED daytime running lamps.
The SUV gets a chunky bumper with prominent faux skid plate and dual exhaust outlets at the back. It has got a wraparound horizontally placed tail-light with LED patterns that merge into the chrome license plate garnish.
Interior
The Kia SP concept SUV's production-spec version is expected to come with a 360-degree camera, wireless charging and in-car WiFi and a large touchscreen infotainment system.
Engine
It will come with a 1.5-litre petrol and a diesel engine option. Both engines will be available with a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes. There is a sportier variant in the pipeline too, which will come with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a dual-clutch gearbox and paddleshifters.
The Kia SP SUV will take on the likes of the upcoming MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, and the Renault Captur when it launches
The SUV will be manufactured at Kia Motors’ plant located in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh.
