New Delhi: With an aim to accelerate the adoption and manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in India, the Center recently amended the FAME II policies to increase the subsidy on electric two-wheelers to reduce the burden on EV manufacturers.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Heavy Industries, the subsidy for electric two-wheelers has been increased to Rs 15,000 per kWh, that is Rs 5,000 per kWh higher than the earlier subsidy rate. Ather Energy, an emerging electric two-wheeler manufacturing company, had announced to reduce the price of its 450+ (Ather 450+) electric scooter by Rs 14,500. Now after the central government, various state governments are also giving tremendous subsidy on electric vehicles. In this sequence, now the Maharashtra government has also joined.
Indian electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy has announced that the price of its scooters in Maharashtra has slashed by almost 20 percent.
In this way, the prices of the scooter will drop of up to Rs 24,000. Announcing this on Twitter, Tarun Mehta, the co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy wrote that EV subsidy has now been implemented in Maharashtra too. In this way, the prices of Ather 450+ have been reduced by about Rs 24 thousand in the state. From now on, the scooter will be available in Maharashtra for Rs.1.03 lakh. With these prices, Maharashtra has become the state in the country where Ather 450+ is available at the lowest price. However, the Ather 450+ has not become the most economical electric scooter in Maharashtra. Actually, Ola has fixed a price of Rs 99,999 for its electric scooter S1.
Ather 450+: Ather 450+ is the updated version of the company's scooter 450. This scooter takes 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 40km/h. The true range of this scooter is 70 kms. The peak power of this scooter is 5.4 kW. The torque of this scooter is 22 Nm. This scooter can be charged so much in 10 minutes that it can cover a distance of up to 10 kilometers.
