New Delhi, News24 Bureau, Oct 30: According to the initial reports pouring in, BJP is understood to have offered two seats to its ally Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) in Bihar for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
No official statement has come from RLSP though.
We have made Bharatiya Janata Party aware of what our party and supporters want for seat-sharing (in 2019 Lok Sabha polls). They said we will hold discussions. Discussions were positive but nothing has been finalised yet," said Union minister and RLSP president Upendra Kushwaha.
RLSP chief and Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha had gone to meet the BJP General Secretary and Bihar in-charge Bhupendra Yadav. The offer was made there.
Both BJP and JD-U had reached an understanding earlier wherein there was an equal number of seats for both the parties. political pundits were of the opinion that the Bihar decision is a pointer towards the fact that the BJP will be in an alliance mode for the forthcoming elections. There was speculation when Kushwaha had gone to meet Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav.
This happened after BJP and JD-U announced that they will contest an equal number of seats in Bihar in the Lok Sabha polls. Kushwaha-Tejashwi meet had set-off speculation that he was not happy with the developments. In all, Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats. Kushwaha's party cuts into the RJD votes bank.
Mediapersons were also present there. Tejashwi Yadav came to my room at circuit house. I went for party-related work & Tejashwi Yadav was already present there. We met in presence of a lot of people", said Kushwaha on his meeting with Tejashwi Yadav at Arwal Circuit house in Bihar. In the 2014 polls, the RLSP contested three seats as part of the NDA alliance and won all of them. This makes Kushwaha a confident man.
We are declaring our candidates in 66 constituencies for Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections," said Kushwaha.
