New Delhi, March 10: The wealth of Samajwadi Party's Rajya Sabha candidate, Jaya Bachchan and her husband, Amitabh Bachchan almost doubled from around Rs 500 crore in 2012 to nearly Rs 1,000 crore this year, as per the affidavit submitted at the time of filing her nomination on Friday.
According to the affidavit, the couple had immovable assets worth more than Rs460 crore, which is more than twice of what they owned in 2012 - Rs152 crore. The worth of movable assets too rose from around Rs343 crore in 2012 to around Rs540 crore this year. The affidavit shows that the couple owns gold and jewellery worth over Rs62 crore. Interestingly, Amitabh owns more than Rs36 crore, while Jaya has jewellery worth Rs26 crore in her name. Bachchans also own 12 vehicles between them, worth over Rs13 crore. They include one Rolls-Royce, three Mercedes, one Porsche and a Range Rover. Amitabh also owns a Tata Nano car and a tractor. Amitabh and Jaya also have watches worth around Rs3.4 crore and Rs51 lakh respectively. Amitabh also possesses a pen worth over Rs9 lakh. Besides having huge properties in upscale areas of Mumbai and Delhi, Bachchans also own a 3,175 sq mt residential property in Brignogan Plage in France. They also have properties in Noida, Bhopal, Pune, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Jaya owns a 1.22 hectare agricultural plot worth Rs2.2 crore in Kakori area of Lucknow. Likewise, Amitabh owns a 3 acre plot worth Rs5.7 crore in Daulatpur area of Barabanki district.
